The river is a series of photographs made along the headwaters of the Missouri River, where the Gallatin, Jefferson, and Madison meet. My sister first brought me there in August of 2025, showing me the bank where she often went to enjoy the sun and float in the river. I kept returning week after week, hoping the stillness of the trees, the wind blowing through the grass, and the gentle flow of the river could ease my constant restlessness. That maybe I could escape a world being consumed by distraction, hurry, and greed. This rest was temporary, and there is no escaping the damage, but in rest, there is resistance.
